Index monitoring: know what Google actually indexed

How index monitoring works

Roughly twelve hours after a page is submitted through automatic Google indexing, The Index Pilot checks its status against Google's own inspection data. Every page then carries a live verdict on your dashboard: confirmed indexed, still being checked, or not indexed with a named reason. Pages that are not yet indexed get rechecked automatically every few days, because many of them flip on their own as Google catches up.

The reason, in plain English

Google has a vocabulary for why a page is not indexed, and each verdict points to a different fix. The Index Pilot translates all of them:

• Crawled, not indexed. Google visited and passed for now. Usually thin or duplicate feeling content. Strengthen the page and its internal links.
• Discovered, not crawled. Google knows the URL but has not visited. More internal links from strong pages speeds this up.
• Blocked by noindex or robots.txt. The site itself is telling Google to stay away, usually unintentionally. One setting fixes it.
• Seen as a duplicate. Google chose a different version of the page. Canonical tags resolve it.

Each explanation appears one click from the page it describes, next to what to do about it. For an agency, that list is a ready made work order: every amber badge is a diagnosable, billable fix, already diagnosed.

Coverage you can show

Every site shows a running count of confirmed indexed pages against checked pages, and the totals flow into your scheduled client reports, so the people paying for content see proof that it is actually in the index. When you fix a flagged page, bulk submission pushes it back to Google in one click and monitoring picks up the recheck from there.
